Homes For Our Troops Parker Colorado

A group of volunteers from Lutheran Churches in Douglas County will build a fence for Army Staff Sgt. Matthew Keil and his wife Tracy and Matthew’s service dog, Gus.  Matthew was injured on his second tour of duty in Iraq, by sniper fire. Although a quadriplegic, Matt has regained some of the use of his left arm. The Keil’s have been part of our Parker community since 2008, and are very active in helping other “Homes For Our Troops” recipients settle into their new Colorado communities. Tracy and Matt are also extremely helpful in fund raising efforts for these incoming families.

I helped organize this project for Matt, one of our wounded troops living here in Parker, CO.  On Friday and Saturday, November 2 and 3rd, 2012, we had 15 strong volunteer’s help install over 300 feet of split rail fence.  In addition, we had another 6 volunteer’s deliver lunch for this hungry crew!  The weather was beautiful, and the fence turned out great.  Thanks to all who helped out.
